The Norwegian media artist Marius Watz follows the Dutch Jan Robert Leegte as this year's second "artist-in-residence" of the quarter21 in cooperation with the Graz-based Kunstverein Medienturm. Marius Watz is a well-known representative in the field of generative art, having curated "Generator.x" at the National Museum in Oslo, a crucial exhibition on this current art trend.
The piece "Kugelstudie " ("Sphere Study") is a formal study of a spherical space and was created for the series Medienturm SHOWS. Not to be understood as a traditional animation, it is rather an exploration of ways of filling a sphere with arcs, cutting and defining space. The results are graphic and bold, complex though based on a simple rule.
As a limited artist´s contribution the video will be released in the EDITION Medienturm.
