The Graz-based art association Kunstverein Medienturm analyses the impacts of media- and video art on contemporary art and thus reacts upon today’s mediatized society. This interdisciplinary approach is basis for a preferred development of cross-media projects, which advance current questions in the field of art production and theoretical reflection. Media art is not understood as a niche sector but as a current, formal and reflexive input via elements such as video, film, photo, the Internet, sound, light etc, thus triggering an engagement with fine arts: relevant contemporary artistic positions are presented and possible future forms of art are conceived; material- and context references from “new media” are facing the “old media” in a productive way.
