With the installation of BÜRO FÜR TEMPORÄRE INFORMATIONSAKKUMULATION (“Office for Temporary Information Accumulation”), Christian Egger, Manuel Gorkiewicz and Christian Mayer, all graduates of Peter Kogler at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna, expose themselves to a physical self-experiment, which translates contemporary communication theories to a discursive and creative practice. Egger, Gorkiewicz and Mayer gather, by means of various available information sources, such as mailing lists, daily and weekly newspapers, television, radio, websites and their personal study, the greatest possible quantity of data, facts, news and anecdotes. In the frame of a three-day performance, the artists process the material of a broad topical range in order to hang slightly revised prints collage-like within the exhibition space. The singular information elements enter a new relation to each other and confront the seemingly structured media reality with a subjective chaos. The visitors enter a “media cocoon” that concentrates high information density.
