The exhibition analyses the current problem that unprocessed digital material usually only can be shaped to a presentable form through elaborate editing. The approach towards conceptual, abstracting procedures unfolds, their practice increasingly reinforcing evolving links to comparable procedures of contemporary fine arts and Electronica-based sound art.
Norbert Pfaffenbichler presents a light box, which reflects the 256 fundamental colours of the "Apple-world" with monitor luminance. In a large wall intervention, Lotte Schreiber in cooperation with Pfaffenbichler designs rangy, analogue structures, which follow a rudimental, serial framing. Annja Krautgasser [n:ja] presents digital prints of video material, their clear structure revealing a transition towards the originally used materiality. In cooperation with Radian's Stefan Németh and technically realized by Rainer Mandl, Dariusz Kowalski presents a space-defining audio-visual installation. Based on Németh's concise sound structures, Kowalski develops a two-part projection level, its massive image material showing strong stringency. Herwig Weiser shows an early video, which, in his use of unprocessed video material, evokes the artist's experimental beginnings. The formation Institut für Feinmotorik gives insight into its artistic practice, which develops from acoustic-performative elements.
Besides, the question of an immediate realization of an artistic concept is important, of which the performative output formerly was associated in the sound art scene with the element of "noise" The group reMI (Renate Oblak, Michael Pinter) incorporates this tradition into their work, in order to reinterpret it by means of a compositional openness towards pattern and cut. reMI presents a cyclically rotating sound installation, which acoustically merges two levels of the partly open, outdoor staircase construction of the Medienturm.
