[WITH A HIDDEN NOISE. Rosa Barba]

SHOW
Kunstverein Medienturm
Josefigasse 1, 8020 Graz
25.05-28.07.2007

Tue-Fri 2-6 p.m., Sat 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Rosa Barba ’s (*1972 Agrigento, Sicily; lives in Cologne and Amsterdam) cinematic works describe the moment before the vital action, an intermediate situation where meaning dissolves for an instant, leaving an impression of incompleteness. The plot of her stories develops along the delicate seams of notional and authentic realities; the suspense of period and moment, of expanded time and unique moment. The string of events and minimal sensations compose the imaginary ways of her network. Spaces wherein the unlikely and the impossible can temporary burgeon. The topics range between otherness and the understanding of reality.

A multi-part performative concert by "Wichtel und die Wuchteln" is given on the occasion of the opening by the prominent formation members. “If the ‘Neue deutsche Welle” had consistently displayed such an impact, it wouldn’t have degenerated via the ‘swindle’ effect to a ‘flogging a dead horse’ sellout that fast, as it occurred twenty-five years ago!” (Ágota König, Das dosierte Leben)

"Wichtel und die Wuchteln" are Rosa Barba, Jan St. Werner, Ingrid Wiener, Oswald Wiener, Klaus Sander and the two-part quartet of the men's choral society Alpenland Mariazell.
