[CULTURAL CARAVAN AGAINST RIGHT-WING EXTREMISM. Schorsch Kamerun / Hans Platzgumer]

LIVE ACTS
Neue Galerie Graz
Sackstraße 16, A-8020 Graz
14.10.2000

To eradicate the evil or: art is a shebear and bites when it wants. From October 6–14, a culture caravan of around 140 persons, engaged in the cultural sector, tours with tractors, trucks and busses through Carinthia and Styria, intending to antagonize the effects of a regionally and nation wide strengthening of right wing populism. Various cultural acts and such referring to cultural politics like video screenings, film evenings, performances, readings, cabaret and concerts are presented.
Last station of the culture caravan is Graz, where a demonstration is held in the city centre one day before the elections of the Parliament. In the evening, Hans Platzgumer plays, in collaboration with Georg Gaigl, at Kunstverein Medienturm abstracts of the new Electronica project “Datacard”, whereas Eva Rossmann takes a stand addressing the issue of the occasion. Schorsch Kamerun (Die Goldenen Zitronen) presents his activist solo project “SuperMama”, posing in top form wearing an extravagant costume, all in good cause.
