[ETERNITY. Sylvie Fleury / Isabelle Heimderdinger / Gerwald Rockenschaub]

Verein Medienturm
Großmarktstraße 8b, A-8020 Graz

Sylvie Fleury interprets images of a fetishized consumer-driven world, which commonly exhibits female codings and is familiar to us from design, the fashion industry or – as in the presently presented video work “Daikoku” – from the car industry. Trendy products and protagonists from the field of “life style” are depicted in Fleury’s work in an exaggerated and anticipated way, in order to be questioned, at the same time, with respect to the underlying longings and desires.
Isabell Heimerdinger’s central interest lies in the penetration of the cinematographic world and everyday reality, whereas she recently focuses on the character of the actor. In photographic and cinematographic test arrangements, she fanthoms the partly subtle differences between acted and authentic behaviour, between pose and “real” facial expression, between role and identity. The analysis of surface and function of different materials is one crucial interest of Gerwald Rockenschaub, who acts out a rather postminimalistic formal language. Rockenschaub shows the projected Flash animation “o.T.” (programming: Boris Kopeinig), which opens up an abstract counterpart to Fleury’s and Heimerdinger’s works through its illusionist and seemingly infinite colour variations.

The DJ formation “Super Harvard Architects” (Nikolaus Passath, Martin Sägmüller) delivers the appropriate acoustical sound carpet, in order to address three (superficially) very different artistic positions.
