[TECHNO VISIONS II. Sound as Window to New Digital Visual Space]

Verein Medienturm
Großmarktstraße 8b, A-8020 Graz

Concept: Christian Höller; Werner Jauk

Cooperation: Deptartment of Musicology, University of Graz
Starting point of the Panel TECHNO-VISIONS II shall be the specificity of New Music and the image level in line with it: which creative patterns can be transferred from the sound level to other areas? Which readings do these new image spaces allow, being primarily infl uenced by synaesthetical “Techno-visions”? Today, a fi ne art that is freed from the static, orientates itself more and more towards the contemporary shape of music: a context-oriented music reality freed from depiction, and a process-related one that finally follows the event character of the communicationally ruled music production and of an algorithmically ruled serial music. What manifests itself as broad cultural process also evolves in the form of a systematic change. Subsequent to the orientation of the new arts towards music, the digital world effectuates the transgression of the
mechanistic – the dominating “view of things” disappears, the “logic of the auditory” at least is added. The auditory as mediating, medial “visionary” – a productive paradox.
