CONCEPT: Christian Höller
What happens when the production methods of the electronic culture can operate increasingly subtle due to present technical prerequisites? What if sampling, citing methods and “sequencing” operate in a more and more fragmented way. Which new cultural blueprints emerge, when sound and image production is becoming increasingly “microscopic”? MICRO-SOUNDS (“Minimal Aesthetics in Current Music and Electronic Culture”) attends to the processes of a constant fine tuning of current art and music, the former tending to result in an emptying and dissolving of the used materials. At the same time, however, the possibility to edit image and sound microscopically opens up perspectives of new work techniques, which confer greater importance to the concepts of reduction, abstraction and minimalism. New minimalisms in electronic art and music are topic as well as digital reduction procedures.
